Hi Gray, it’s a good idea to start reading. I have a few ebooks on this site that might help. However at some point you have to delve into it and make a start. You’ll learn more by jumping in, building yourself a simple site and starting with some basic SEO stuff than you will by reading.

Hi Dan, I really do think you can help me. I have been having problems from my business in promoting it. It is just a small business but I wanted to do online marketing but don’t know much on how to do it. Because I always believe that money is fast on the internet and it really attracts me. I have not started anything yet to bring my business on the internet because I am still reading more on about how to do it right and what to do first.

Ha yeah. I don’t know a lot about this but I think the Mega Upload guy was actively helping people download pirated content. Content on mega-upload was publicly available as far as I know. That is not the case with dropbox, you have to share folders with people.

In terms of functionality it’s a different experience. With those file hosting sites you log into the site to upload and download files. With dropbox you don’t have to log in anywhere, you just copy it into your folder like you ordinarily would so you just keep on doing what you have always done but meanwhile in the background you can access your files anywhere and it’s all backed up.

Thanks for the article. Can I ask a question? Why would you use DropBox over something like Mediafire or RapidShare or something like that?

IMHO with what happened to Megaupload, Fileserve, Filesonic etc. I think you are right! We do need DropBox and similar services. And with The Pirate Party planning civil action against the FBI for the closure of Megaupload because of all the people who did have legitimate content hosted there, I’m sure people will switch over to services like DropBox.

I read a funny comment on ZDNet’s website about the closure of Megaupload and the one guy commented at http://www.zdnet.com/tb/1-113692-2301576?:

“Dear Dropbox,
Don’t even think about it.

-Your Users”
